A Buruburu woman, Caroline Lihavi Imbayi, has been charged with conspiracy to defraud a Nairobi businesswoman of KSh.17 million in a suspected herbicide supply scam.
Imbayi faces a charge of conspiracy to defraud contrary to Section 317 of the Penal Code after allegedly claiming she could supply herbicides to Winfred Kawira Micheni.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged offence occurred between March 18 and June 20, 2024, in Buruburu, Embakasi, Nairobi County. She is accused of conspiring with other individuals who have not been brought before the court.
The prosecution alleges that Imbayi obtained KSh.17 million from Micheni by falsely representing that she was capable of supplying the herbicides, despite allegedly knowing that the claim was untrue.
She was arrested on September 30, 2026, and arraigned in court on October 1, 2026, according to a charge sheet prepared at DCI Buruburu.
The accused was granted bail of KSh.300,000.
The case is yet to be proved in court, and Imbayi remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
