A couple of state officers have resigned just in time to contest for political seats in the forthcoming 2022 General elections.
Following the order that all those that seek to contest in elections must resign by today, Wednesday, 9th February, 2022, the following has been reported. The Court of Appeal yesterday said that government workers eying political seats in 2022 General Election must resign by today.
EDUCATION CAS Hassan Noor Hassan has resigned as he seeks to vie for the Mandera Governor’s seat on an ODM ticket.
John Munyes resigns as Petroleum and Mining Cabinet Secretary to vie for Turkana governorship; he served as the county’s Senator for five years from 2013.
EAST AFRICA Community CAS Ken Obura resigns, to officially join politics ahead of August elections.
Chief Administrative Secretaries Patrick ole Ntutu (Labour) and Gideon Mung’aro (Devolution) resign to vie for Narok and Kilifi governorships respectively.
DEVOLUTION CS Charles Keter resigns, to vie for Kericho Governor under UDA in August; he becomes the first CS to step down.
East African Community (EAC) cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed also announced his resignation later in the day to vie for the Mandera gubernatorial seat.
Fred Segor has also resigned as Wildlife Principal Secretary.
