Lumalah, an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MCA, died after a long illness on Monday morning.
The legislator was in India, where she had flown to seek treatment for cancer.
Confirming the news, Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Benson Mutura described Lumalah’s demise as a great loss to the assembly.
“It’s a sad moment and great loss for the Assembly and the County at large. Mellab was part of the house leadership and carried out her duties effectively.,” said Mutura.
The Assembly last year in December also lost Korogocho ward MCA who was ill.
Saddened to learn that Nominated MCA Hon Mellab Lumalah has passed. She was loyal, passionate and dedicated to service. My condolences to her dear husband Afwayi and their son. pic.twitter.com/CY9nrQAFmQ
