Nicholas Omenya, a KenGen senior manager is accused of soliciting for a 10 percent bribe to issue contracts in procurement, a local blog reported.
Kenya Insights reported, ‘The Acting GDD and Omenya crafted a deal of soliciting 10% from contractors for projects that are not yet advertised. The man running the show is none other than Nicholas Omenya who has even gone to the extent of doing business with KenGen’.
A relative of his was contracted to do some renovation works for Olkaria running into millions. Since the installation is far from the headquarters there is minimal supervision going on.
Nicholas Omenya doesn’t work alone, he has a side clyde by the name Pekesta Maangi.
Pekesta Maangi has become wealthy from the energy contract deals. He has bought three apartments in Kileleshwa and a main house in Ngei Estate in Langata. He also bought a double cabin Zero Mileage and is chest-thumping to senior managers like Samson who is more senior than him that the chairman, having come from the Coastal region, he will be confirmed soon.
EACC must conduct a lifestyle audit on the two, for the immense wealth, they hold, that cannot be accounted for.
