Speaking in Turkana County's Lodwar town, the younger Raila stated that leaving his dad's party for a smaller one was an insult.

"Someone cannot tell you to leave your father's party and join a smaller one. That is simply not possible," he thundered.

He went on to explain that ODM is the party that he will view the Kibra Member of National Assembly seat.

“In 2027, I want to run for the Kibra MP, my father’s old post; please support me,” he said.

Other members of the Odinga family have also expressed interest in elective politics ahead of the 2027 General Election. For example, Pauline Odhiambo Oginga is eyeing the Nyali parliamentary seat in Mombasa County, while Jaoko Oburu is targeting the Siaya gubernatorial seat.

Meanwhile, Winnie Odinga has declared her intention to contest the Nairobi Senate seat.

Their aunt, Ruth Odinga, is eyeing the Kisumu gubernatorial seat, where she hopes to succeed incumbent Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o. She currently serves as the Kisumu County Woman Representative.

Their uncle, Oburu Oginga, is expected to defend his Siaya Senate seat, which would place him in a potential contest with other aspirants seeking the ODM ticket.

The growing number of family members seeking elective positions signals a new chapter in Odinga family politics following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Their respective ambitions will now face the test of party nominations and, ultimately, the electorate in the 2027 General Election
